Cyndi Lauper Just Wanted To Have Fun

Ever hear the song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” on the radio? Even if you don’t listen to the radio, I’m pretty sure you have heard this song before, especially if you get your internet through places like satellitestarinternet.com or the like.

Cyndi Lauper first broke onto the music scene singing cover songs for groups like Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin and Bad Company. Despite her success, she wasn’t happy with singing other people’s songs and in 1978, after she had regained her voice after a yearlong sabbatical, she met with saxophonist John Turi and they formed the group Blue Angel. And after Blue Angel, through a series of ups and downs, she released the iconic hits that we all know and love. “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” and “She’s So Unusual” were all career-defining hits that made her a pop starlet.

Today, Lauper is still active in music. She has even done some acting, and has been extremely active in the Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) social movements.

In retrospect, Lauper’s climb to the top wasn’t much different from the success stories of many others – but you could certainly argue that she had a lot more fun doing it.

Dolores O’Riordan: The Reason The Cranberries Were Great

The Cranberries are one of my ultimate favorite bands. One of the main reasons that I love them so much is their dynamic lead singer, Dolores O’Riordan. Born in Ireland in 1971, O’Riordan was a driving force in the band’s popularity, particularly in the decade of the 1990s. With a voice that was simply like no other on the market, O’Riordan made songs like “Zombie” and “Linger” stay in our heads and never leave.
